Engagement Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Engagement Manager’s key responsibilities are:
  • Establishing, assessing, nurturing, and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships with universities, industry, and other key stakeholders in China, both new and existing.  
  • Collecting, analysing, and delivering market and business insight to the In-Country Director and other relevant UTS audiences as needed.
  • Collaborating closely with UTS internal stakeholders and providing necessary supporting.
  • Support the In-Country Director across strategic planning, operational management, execution, and research endeavours, while occasionally deputising for or acting in representation of the In-Country Director

POSITION DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take a prominent role, in tandem with the In-Country Director, in developing relationships in China. Engage with government bodies, educational partners, academic and research institutions, industry players, and more.
  • Identify and assess new partnership avenues for potential collaboration. Formulate strategies to harness these opportunities for UTS faculties and units in both Sydney and China (UTS Beijing and UTS Shenzhen).
  • Aid in the implementation of UTS’s global engagement strategies on various fronts, including monitoring, reviewing, facilitating, and evaluating program activities, with an emphasis on the Key Technology Partnerships and Pathway programs.
  • Conduct market research on general business environment, government policies and regulations, prevailing and emerging trends, as well as field and competitor activities in international education within China. Analyse the derived data to prepare detailed background information and comprehensive market research reports.
  • Organise and participate in key meetings, conferences, and other events to promote the UTS brand in China as directed.
  • Collaborate with UTS faculties and units from Sydney and globally, offering the necessary support and fostering partnerships in China.
  • Oversee the UTS China partnership and activity database. Ensure timely recording and updating of crucial contacts and significant activity logs.
  • Support the In-Country Director with any other pertinent work duties as appropriate.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Engagement Manager is required to:

  • Work with geographically and culturally diverse groups of partners on projects and opportunities.

  • Work to a high level of written and verbal proficiency in both Chinese and English.

  • Travel domestically within China and overseas (generally to Australia) occasionally to represent UTS and carry out the duties of the role successfully.

  • Balance work priorities and manage competing demands, including extended work hours during peak periods.


SELECTION CRITERIA

Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated intercultural competency and strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.

  • Ability to establish, build and sustain effective relationships within the work unit and with internal and external partners.

  • High-level research and analytical skills, and superior business and report writing skills.

  • Ability to self-organise and prioritise work schedule to meet internal and external client needs and deadlines.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of the global education landscape, with a specific focus on the higher education system of both Australia and China.

  • Familiarity of information technology and its practical application in professional tasks. Experience with various computer software packages and digital platforms is essential.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited institution and a minimum of three years’ full-time relevant work experience.
