The position

Regional recruitment officer, China


Responsibilities include

  • To work with the Regional Director for Schools & Colleges, APAC and the Managing Director at Bucksmore Education, to achieve recruitment targets in China and through China based agents.

  • To work with colleagues across Marketing and Student Recruitment to develop particular priority markets and accounts in China for Bucksmore Summer Schools, and to prepare and implement regionally-focused activity plans. The role will also include some responsibility for Nord Anglia’s Oxford Schools and Colleges Recruitment (namely Oxford Sixth Form College, Oxford International College and d’Overbroeck’s School).

  • To build effective working relationships with Bucksmore and Oxford school colleagues and deliver collaborative recruitment activities to achieve enrolment targets.

  • To develop a strong understanding of Nord Anglia’s brand identity including: overall brand positioning, individual brand messaging, programme propositions and the unique positioning, provision and strengths of the schools with a view to promote our key services to students, parents, agents and other institutions in China.

  • To be fully conversant with the admissions and UKVI policies and procedures to ensure that all recruitment activities are compliant.

  • To attend recruitment events and advise/counsel student enquirers/applicants.

  • To drive effective relationships including the management of existing agents in China, maintaining key account plans and identifying potential new representation and offering training for our partners.

  • To provide comprehensive reports on regional visits, to disseminate these reports appropriately within the organization, and to ensure that market intelligence and competitor insights gained through recruitment activity is fed back to colleagues within the Marketing and Student Recruitment Department for schools to inform future activity and the development of new products and services.

  • To work collaboratively with other colleagues in the recruitment team in disseminating and providing training for staff across the schools who are engaged in student recruitment activities.

  • To take the lead on academic visits and maximise conversion activity through these visits.

  • To closely monitor application pipelines in order to effectively convert student enquiries through to arrivals, at key points of the recruitment cycle.

  • To develop an Ambassador and Alumni group for our Bucksmore schools in China.


Essential skills and qualifications:

  • Eligibility to live and work in China. Meet statutory and organisational child-safeguarding requirements.

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level.

  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).

  • Near-fluent in English (spoken and written).

  • Good understanding of the overseas academic short course market.

  • Good understanding of sales and marketing processes in the international education sector.

  • Experience of producing sales reports.

  • Proven track record in delivering against recruitment targets in the international education sphere.

  • Good understanding of the UK education system.

  • Established relationships with agents and educational consultants in China.

  • Ability to develop and execute sales plans.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Skilled influencer and networker.

  • Good relationship management and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Good PC and database management skills.

  • Has a highly organised approach to work.

  • A high degree of emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as demonstrated ability to proactively and effectively work in a team environment.

  • Acts with integrity at all times.
