China Content and Social Coordinator


Position Summary

The China Content and Social Coordinator is responsible for creation, optimisation and curation of Chinese digital content for RMIT University's key acquisition and brand campaigns, with the primary goal of engaging prospective Chinese students.


The role involves communicating with internal stakeholders in English and producing external-facing collateral in simplified Chinese. Therefore, the role requires excellence in writing, editing and digital content coordination in both languages, as well as the ability to assist with coordinating a wide range of projects within Global Marketing and Student Recruitment.


The Content Coordinator works with and provides support to the Content Manager.

Key Accountabilities
  • Translate English content into Chinese and proofread Chinese copy.
  • Write Chinese content for RMIT’s China website and email marketing activities.
  • Research, write and produce Chinese content (including text, video and images) for RMIT’s social channels, such as WeChat, Weibo and Little Red Book.
  • Coordinate and optimise RMIT's presence on key Chinese social media platforms, including WeChat, Weibo, and Little Red Book. Stay up-to-date with platform trends and features to maximize engagement.
  • Create content that is aligned to the brand and suits channel/audience objectives.
  • Provide content advice based on competitors in China, current Chinese market insights and sentiments.
  • Curate, coordinate and write Chinese content for hard copy publications (such as flyers and brochures) as required.
  • Regularly analyse the effectiveness of RMIT’s social media and content efforts in China, and create reports showcasing key metrics.
  • Engage with in-country alumni and showcase their stories to industry and future students.
  • Capture and share in-country activities and events on social media.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers in China as required, including print houses.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including editing and proofreading) are essential in both simplified Chinese and English.

  • Demonstrated social media marketing experience with a focus on Chinese platforms, including but not limited to WeChat, Weibo, and Little Red Book.

  • Proven strategic writing experience for marketing, communications or news media.

  • Ability to determine potential opportunities to promote RMIT's brand via traditional and digital channels.

  • Strong knowledge of the current Chinese prospective student market and ability to provide recommendations to resonate with this audience.

  • Demonstrated ability to edit complex documents and coordinate editorial tasks for print and the web.

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects; excellent customer service skills.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to contribute creatively.

  • Proven commitment to collaboration and teamwork.

  • Good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships, and provide constructive feedback to stakeholders – internal and external, etc.

  • High degree of computer literacy, including Microsoft platforms and content management systems.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a related field will be highly regarded.

  • Experience with the following platforms is essential: WeChat, Weibo, Little Red Book.

  • Experience with the following platforms is favourable but not essential: Sinorbis, Facebook Business Manager and Facebook Ads Manager.

  • Prior marketing experience in the education or tertiary education sector is highly regarded.
