Starting Annual Salary: RMB 90,938 (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; 13th month bonus and employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary)

** This competition is Anticipatory Staffing to create an eligibility list to staff similar openings of indeterminate and term duration which may arise at the Consulate General in Guangzhou. **

Summary of position:

Under general supervision, provides multi-task support services to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) programs and operations. Exercises initiative in seeking out information to complete files or tasks. Requires a general knowledge of established guidelines.

Essential qualifications:

Education:
•University or College degree or diploma

Language:
•Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
•Experience in client service and/or dealing with the general public
•Experience working in a general office environment
•Experience working on a PC in a network environment, including experience using mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications

*Experience is defined as having the equivalent to at least three (3) months full time work over a two (2) year period

Asset Qualifications:

Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following:

Language:
•Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)
•Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
•Experience working and/or studying in an international environment (Previous employment in Canada or in another country (outside mainland China); experience working for a multi-national company or international organization in China)
•Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS) in a Canadian visa office

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:

•Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
•Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Condition(s) of Employment:

•Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens.
•Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance.
•Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Guangzhou Residence Permit.

Area of selection:

This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an Indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Guangzhou at their own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Guangzhou at their own expense.
