Job Title

Job Purpose

Deliver high quality pre-sessional English course to students who are aspiring to study in an English-speaking academic environment.

• Deliver engaging and student-centred lessons with the aim of achieving course objectives and to the standards outlined in the teaching induction.
• Use in-house materials effectively and adapt to suit students’ needs and abilities.
• Manage classes of 15-20 students effectively to allow each student to experience academically fulfilling environment.
• Encourage autonomous learning and prepare students for university study.
• Deliver individual or small group tutorials to ensure students are informed of their progress or the lack of thereof.

• Keep up-to-date attendance records.
• Comment on students’ progress and achievements in tutorials or in writing.
• Mark assignments and provide feedback.
• Ensure all relevant class material is accessible to students in timely fashion.
• Be available for some asynchronous student support via email / MS Teams.

• Attend teaching induction (online).
• Attend a weekly teachers’ meeting and scheduled CPD sessions.
• Communicate effectively with the head office management if and when required.

• Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent.

• Proficient use of English in speaking and writing.

  
  

• Undergraduate degree in any discipline.

• CELTA. Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language with ELT subsidiary.

DELTA or Trinity Dip. TESOL or MA TESOL.

• Teaching experience across a variety of levels.
• Experience teaching PSE or EAP.
• Experience of establishing and maintaining effective academic administration systems and quality assurance procedures.

• Experience of working in a university PSE setting or equivalent.

• Experience of using a variety of platforms for online delivery.

• Experience with language exams – systems and student preparation.

• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.

• Experience of delivering lessons confidently and effectively.

• Good numeracy and literacy skills.

• A sound knowledge of Microsoft office with good IT skills.

• Ability to supervise and motivate learners.

• Ability to function and communicate in a multicultural environment.

• Have a positive and proactive attitude to work.

• Demonstrate high levels of professionalism.

• A drive to work collaboratively with fun, likeminded people and contribute to team success.

• To be constantly aware of improving standards and adapt to them where possible.
